M7 Deutschland launches SVOD service for operators

M7 Deutschland SVODCanal+owned German TV-for-cable aggregator M7 Deutschland is to offer its service provider customers a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service in addition to its TV channel portfolio.

The all-in-one solution, which M7 is setting up together with sister company StudioCanal, will enable network operators to offer a service to cater to the growing streaming market.

The StudioCanal channels Arthaus+, Allstars and Moviecult feature European movies and series, exclusive originals and US blockbusters and enable network operators to offer their customers a complete SVOD service. The channels are curated editorially and address clearly defined target groups, according to M7.

M7 will present the details of the new SVOD service, other new offerings and highlights at on its stand A10 in hall 7 at German trade fair ANGA COM, which takes place in Cologne from May 23 to 25, 2023.

An important topic will be the transition of the TV signal distribution to the M7 partners to fibre networks. In addition to the central M7 headend at the Equinix fibre hub in Frankfurt, M7 is offering further local access points via several cooperation partners.

As part of the ANGA COM congress programme, Marco Hellberg will speak on May 24 on the panel “Quo vadis TV Reception: Who wins the Battle for the Customer?” (14:30-15:30 CEST, Room 1) about the new situation on the German housing market, where cable TV fees can no longer be charged via the ancillary rental costs in future, and what possibilities and opportunities arise for housing companies, network operators and service providers.

“With our attractive SVOD offer, we enable partners to enter the streaming market easily and quickly. The white label product strengthens their brand in competition and opens up an additional source of revenue, rounding off the classic TV line-up,” said Hellberg, managing director of Eviso Germany GmbH, the M7 Business Partner in Germany.
