Regulator calls on Eutelsat to end Russian channel distribution

French media regulator Arcom has called on Eutelsat to halt the distribution of three Russian channels on its platform.

Arcom said it had asked Eutelsat to stop broadcasting Rossiya 1, Perviy Kanal and NTV due to their coverage of the Ukraine war including “repeated incitement to hatred and violence and numerous shortcomings to honesty of information.”

Last week, Reporters Without Borders filed a lawsuit against the French regulator Arcom for failing to stop Eutelsat from distributing Russia’s three leading TV channels.

Broadband TV News has reached out to Eutelsat for comment.
