Polsat loses pay-TV subs

Poland’s Polsat Plus Group ended the third quarter with 5,106,000 contract pay-TV services in the B2C sector.

This, according to the company, was 3.8% lower than in the same period last year and mainly due to the price repositioning and change in the strategy of offering its video online services (in 2021, it replaced the Ipla platform with the new Polsat Box Go offer, which is differently positioned in terms of pricing), a lower number of provided satellite TV services as well as the decision to discontinue its mobile TV service. This decrease was partially compensated by the increasing number of TV services offered in online technologies (IPTV/OTT).

Meanwhile, ARPU for its B2C services, which also include mobile telephony and internet, rose by 3.9% to PLN71.3 (€15. ) over the same period. At the same time, churn was down 0.1pp to 6.8%.

The group also notes that the number of contract services for B2C customers at the end of Q3 amounted to 13,341,000 RGUs, or 1.1% less than a year earlier.

Furthermore, its multiplay subscriber total rose by 1% to 2,465,000.
