Telia plans new focus for C More

The boss of Telia Company says premium offer C More will in future offer a more focused slate of Nordic content on fewer platforms.

Last week, the Swedish telco announced a reorganisation of its TV business under Mathias Berg with a plan to combine C More with the TV4 business.

Telia is currently in dispute with Viasat and has dropped its rival’s channels from its line-up. Allison Kirkby President & CEO admitted the move was “unfortunate” for Telia’s customers.

TV is a significant part of the TV business, which grew 15% in Sweden, following the addition of streaming rights for the Swedish football league Allsvenskan. Its sports portfolio also includes Swedish ice hockey and Swedish football, Italian and Spanish football and UEFA Champions League.

TV and Media reported record advertising revenues, up 5.9%. EBITDA increased by 24% driven by higher advertising revenues and lower content costs.

Quarterly operating income increased to SEK 3,188 million.
