The ad-supported service, which reaches more than 37 million users per month, offers more than 50,000 hours of original, national and international content for free. The content includes: COLOR TV, MTV India, Nickelodeon India, a series of Bollywood films and original VOOT programs. In 2018, VOOT plans to expand its audience through six regional languages and international markets dedicated to fans of independent content around the world. In addition, the premium offer starts with exclusive original content as well as international series and films.

The Kaltura TV platform will see the value of supporting the technical capacity of the service to increase engagement and interactivity. This includes split-screen streaming, personalized experiences for kids via VOOT kids, and progressive web applications (PWA) including offline support. These are intended to provide an application-like experience in mobile browsers that are available on a variety of Android devices.

"VOOT is really a best free streaming tv service: The speed with which it is accepted and continues to grow definitely confirms our cloud-based strategy," said Mohit Srivastava, product and development director of Viacom18 Digital Ventures. "Kaltura's technology and know-how help us keep pace with innovative features and enhancements while continuously improving performance and usability, and we look forward to partnering with the next generation of Cloud TV."
