Disney XD, Disney Television International India’s kids channel, is planning to air its content in Bengali and Marathi feeds in the New Year.With this move the channel is aiming to foray into the other regional markets and strengthen its stand in the Hindi-speaking markets. For the record, Disney XD is currently available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Disney XD caters to the viewers aged 6-14 years old, including girls, and delivers exciting stories around adventure, action, comedy while reflecting core Disney brand values of accomplishment, and heroism.
Natasha Malhotra, VP and GM, Walt Disney Television International India, said that, Disney XD has a unique content mix of live-action and animated programming hyper-targeting boys and their quest for discovery, accomplishment, sports, adventure and humor. Furthwe she added that, they were excited about expanding its reach by making it the first channel in the genre to be available in 6 languages.
The channel will be unveiling, new show “Scaredy Squirrel” on January 9, 2011 (Mon to Fri 1 PM) new episodes of popular action adventure show “Ryukendo”. Furthermore, it will also create a strong destination for Marvel branded characters and stories which have been a part of every boy’s growing up years with the launch of Spider-man on weekdays (Mon to Fri 2 PM).
